✽ What and why?
The exhibition is divided into several sections that recount the history and evolution of World Expos, with a particular focus on key themes such as creativity, technology and the role of the architect. It begins with “The origins of the Expo: A meeting of civilisations”, from the London Expo of 1851 to Expo Osaka 2025, highlighting the value of the Expo as a meeting place for cultures and innovations.
The sections “Creativity and Innovation: Expo as a Catalyst” and “Evolution of the Expo Brand: From Symbol to Global Icon” continue, exploring the impact of Expo on inventiveness and the collective imagination. A comparison between the Milan, Dubai and Osaka editions offers a cross-sectional view of recent transformations, while the section ‘Italy and the Expo: A History of Pride and Planning’ celebrates our country's contribution. The exhibition closes with ‘The Role of the Architect: From Design to Construction’, dedicated to the process of designing and building the temporary spaces of the Expos.
The exhibition aims to offer the public an immersive experience in the history of World Expos, highlighting their role as laboratories of innovation and global dialogue. Through the involvement of designers, manufacturers and companies active in Expo Milano 2015, Expo Dubai 2020 and Expo Osaka 2025, it showcases Italian talent and the ability to translate shared visions into iconic architecture. It is an opportunity to reflect on the present and future of these major international events.
✽ How did we participate?
ESA Genius had the opportunity to participate as an executive partner, helping to bring the ideas and architectures of the studios associated with the exhibition to life through prototyping.
We also had the immense honour of exhibiting ‘Ronin’, one of our most representative works, inside one of the capital's most iconic buildings. The sculpture, conceived as an artistic tribute to the city of Osaka and the cultural value of World Expos, is part of an exhibition dedicated to the dialogue between civilisations, innovation and identity.
Through the formal and symbolic language of the statue, we wanted to interpret the spirit of Expo as a place of encounter, transformation and collective vision, with an eye to the future and roots firmly planted in tradition.
